And here some may be surprised by the fact that the dandelion is used in both herbal medicine and cosmetology.

Dandelion – characteristics

It is a wild plant that can be found all over Europe, Asia and on both continents on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean – North and South America. It has characteristic yellow flowers with fine and very densely placed petals. Longitudinal, green leaves and stems give off white milk-resembling liquid when cut. Today, the dandelion is treated as an arduous garden weed, although in the Middle Ages, various notes about its healing properties have appeared.

What’s hidden in the common dandelion?

Many people may be surprised by how many interesting nutrients are hidden in dandelion. Magnesium, vitamin B complex as well as A, C and E are the most common. These are not the only nutrients. The dandelion also contains other minerals, such as: manganese, potassium, iron, calcium phosphorus, zinc, as well as the necessary biotin and choline. In the root, the dandelion contains a lot of tannins, inulin, phytosterols and mineral salts. The composition of the dandelion differs a little if we take into account its leaves – here the most common are flavonoids, carotenoids, vitamins C and B and three minerals: potassium, magnesium, and silicon. No matter what many may say, without a doubt, the dandelion is a wealth of nutrients.
