A bronzer is both a cosmetic suitable for everyday makeup as well as a substitute for self-tanners. It not only adds colour and radiance to the complexion and helps to mask face flaws, but also – unlike the self-tanner – does not dry out the skin and does not leave streaks or stains. How to choose a bronzer for a particular skin type and how to apply it to achieve a natural effect?
How to choose a bronzer for the skin type?
For normal, combination and oily skin, a pressed bronzer, gel bronzer or liquid bronzer are most recommended. In turn, women with dry skin should reach for cosmetics with a creamy consistency, which turn into powder when in contact with the skin.
How to choose a bronzer for your complexion?
Before you choose a bronzer, you need to know if your skin has a warm, cold or neutral tone. Most of this type of cosmetics has a golden-brown hue, which fits well with warm complexion. In the case of cold or neutral, the choice is more difficult, but not impossible. Just look for a bronzer in a shade of cold beige or pinkish brown.
Most bronzing cosmetics contain shiny particles. They will be a good solution for the evening or for dry and normal skin. If your skin is oily, combination or mature, reach for a matte bronzer. The latter will additionally provide a natural effect, because the real tan does not shine.
How to apply a bronzer?
The application of a bronzer depends on its consistency and face shape.
Powdered bronzers should be applied with a medium soft brush and the creamy ones – with fingertips or a beauty blender.
The way of applying the bronzer depending on the shape of the face:
- Round face – apply the bronzer from the middle of the ear towards the mouth through the middle of the cheek, thanks to which you will slim down your face. Additionally, you can lightly brush the cheeks and temples.
- Square face – touch the bronzer only with the angles of the forehead and sides of the cheeks and apply it gently to the cheekbones. This way you will ease sharp facial features.
- Triangular face – apply the bronzer to the tip of the chin, the temples and the apples of the cheeks. Thanks to this, you will contour the shape of the face.
- Long face – apply the cosmetic to the chin, sides of the forehead and the temples – this will optically shorten the face.
